It’s essential to understand the distinctions between each visa category to make informed decisions.

Investor visa

True to its name, the Investor visa primarily targets foreign investors seeking opportunities in the UAE. This visa category is designed to encourage and facilitate foreign investment in the country. Applicants for the Investor Visa are obligated to deposit a predetermined minimum amount as part of the application process.

A Dubai investor visa is specifically tailored for expatriate investors, aiming to encourage foreign investments in the Emirates. This visa facilitates the entire process for expatriate investors, from entry into the UAE to residence, conducting business activities, and eventual departure. With an investor visa, investors gain the flexibility to engage in various business ventures within the UAE.

Issued by the Ministry of UAE, the investor visa typically has a validity period of 3 years and requires mandatory UAE consulate stamping. Take, for instance, the Dubai Investor visa, where foreign investors are mandated to deposit a fixed amount, covering Dubai visa fees, with a typical deposit amount of AED 10,000. Investors must renew the visa upon expiry to continue benefiting from its privileges.

In cases where investors fail to achieve the expected Return on Investment, they have the option to cancel the visa.

Employment visa

It is a legal requirement for foreign nationals seeking employment in the UAE to obtain a Work (Employment) visa. This visa, also known as a Work Permit Visa, is granted subsequent to the issuance of an Entry Permit visa. The specifics of the Work visa can vary depending on factors such as the nature of the job and the duration of employment.

One crucial step in obtaining a Work Visa is undergoing a mandatory medical examination. This examination ensures that the applicant meets the health standards set by the UAE authorities. The process includes a chest X-ray examination and blood tests to screen for contagious diseases such as TB, leprosy, Hepatitis, and HIV. If the applicant tests positive for any of these conditions, they will not qualify for a Residence visa. In such cases, the individual will be promptly deported from the country.

Family visa

The Family visa enables expatriate residents in the UAE to sponsor their spouse, children, and parents. It is a prerequisite for entry into the UAE when accompanied by immediate family members. To sponsor family members, the expatriate employee must possess a valid Residency permit. To sponsor a visa for their family, the sponsor must meet certain income criteria.

If the company is providing accommodation, the sponsor should earn at least AED 3,000 to AED 4,000 monthly. However, if the sponsor needs to arrange accommodation independently, their monthly salary should range between AED 5,000 and AED 6,000.

In the case where a female sponsors her husband, she must earn a minimum of AED 5,000 per month. Additionally, she must work in a profession such as teaching, medicine, engineering, or an equivalent field.

As a flourishing innovation and technology hub, Dubai hosts professionals from various disciplines who choose to work as freelancers, obtaining residence visas. To obtain a freelance residence permit in Dubai, one must be officially registered as a freelancer within the free zones.
